A chocoman is the kind of sexy but dangerous charmer, like Daniel Cleaver in Bridget Jones’s Diary, or Nikki’s boss in Susan Mallery’s A Little Bit Pregnant, who are described as “like chocolate – sinfully good, but bad for the health”.

Sean Connery as James Bond was a chocoman, as were actors such as Gary Myers and Jonathan Cake who played the Milk Tray Man in the Cadbury ads. And so is Mr Darcy in Pride and Prejudice, and of course the actors who have played him on screen, especially Colin Firth. Every romantic hero has to have something of the chocoman about him to be worthy of the name. Movie heart-throbs like Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt who, to their fans, are “forever yummy”, are chocomen too, as are character actors like Christopher Walken, because they improve every movie they act in, just like chocolate.
